PEARLS
Pearls are formed when a small foreign body enters a mollusk and is covered in layers of pearly material. Pearls are iridescent lustrous spherical masses. They can vary in colour from white to grey, to a variety of blues and even apricot. There are two main types of pearls: freshwater and saltwater. Pearl shapes also vary from perfectly round to oval, drop, coin, bottom and the famous baroque.

MABE pearls or blister pearls. They are made by gluing several hemispherical plastic beads to the inside of pearl oyster shells. The half pearls are cut from the shell using a diamond-tipped hole saw and the nucleus is removed.
